Hi, i am new to the res and have bought a permit for the upcoming season. I noticed the res has recently been netted and was just wondering what the carp stock is like. How many carp are in there that are 15lb+ and what is the biggest carp in there. Any information will be helpful, cheers Big Grin
the carp in the res are from pound size to twentys plus , the res is no just a carp fishery though we have bream roach barbel rudd and so on .hope this helps .
Dan, there is a massive head of carp with a large percentage around the 13-14lb mark and a large percentage around the 18lb mark, all are fighting fit and are in top condition. There are larger fish in the waters with some members claiming to have caught fish to just over 30lb. The recent netting produced a lot of fish although the surveyor did miss out all the corners and the margins (also a mighty big rip in the net!!) so there is a lot more in there than what we actually saw. Alan D is also right tho, there are plenty of other fish in there with specimen tench and bream. Never an easy water but for 30 quid a year you will probably have access to the best value water anywhere I can think of.
Thanks for the info looking forward to baggin a few good carp and maybe some other species along the wayTongue
No problem, get your permit early tho as the first couple of weeks are always mayhem as the carp catch up on their feeding! Even I might catch one!!!!
